about us
The idea for TheRebootYears started with a simple conversation. A coworker once told me he knew people who had retired, only to later decide to go back to work—not for money, but because they were bored. At first, I couldn’t believe it. I thought if I retired right now, I’d have more than enough to keep me busy until my last day. But that conversation stuck with me. Was I being short-sighted?

I started to think about my own vision of retirement: traveling with my wife (and sometimes the whole family), playing handball, spending time on wildlife photography, and tinkering with digital editing and effects. It all sounded great—but then I realized how much of my life had been structured around a full-time job. Without those 10-hour workdays, would I really stay as engaged and fulfilled as I imagined? That question opened a door I hadn’t considered before.

Curious, I began asking colleagues and friends about their own plans for life after work. Some had ideas, some had hobbies, and some had “bucket lists”—but when I pressed a little deeper, most admitted they weren’t completely confident in their path forward either. That uncertainty wasn’t discouraging—it was eye-opening. It showed me that this stage of life is less about having all the answers and more about being willing to ask new questions.

And that’s how TheRebootYears was born. This site isn’t about having a perfect plan—it’s about exploring what’s possible. I’m starting my own reboot process, just like you will at some point, and this platform is one of the projects I’ve committed to along the way. Together, we’ll share stories, swap ideas, and discover ways to make these years not just something we get through, but something we truly reboot.
